Honda Civic Overview
Let’s start with the obvious: two of the most popular cars in the US are sold by Honda, and, you’ve guessed it: Civic is one of them. The revamped 2019 Civic went right to the top place of America’s wishlist. Furthermore, two of our biggest generations – the Millennials and Gen Zers are the ones giving this sedan its unmatched popularity. 2019 Civic sedan has a sporty new look, nothing about it looks cheap, and with proven reliability, fuel economy and the Honda Sensing collision-avoidance and the driving-assistance tech this Honda model is a steal. Additionally, the 2019 Civic has an incredibly secure braking system.
With the completely new Sport trim, the revamped sedan has increased the trim levels to five: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and the awesome top-of-the-line Touring. The newest Sport trim is truly the talk of the town with its black decklid spoiler, Si-style exhaust finisher, sexy bright-red gauges, aluminum pedals, and the powerful 18-inch wheels. It’s well worth the extra 3 150 USD.
The exterior styling is a bit more aggressive and way more contemporary. It’s sleek and very modern style of this iconic American classic is supported by the new slim front headline design, a touch of chrome on the air vents, gloss black front detailing, front bumper revamp and very distinctive lines on the hood.
Honda went all-in with the interior design, the quality of the soft-touch materials is upscale. Even the cheapest base trim doesn’t have cheaper materials, thus the interior quality is impressive across all models. The car is very spacious; the cabin is huge especially for a vehicle in its segment.
Think new Civic – think variety of engine choices. There is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder one with 158 hp. Then there are two 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engines one with 174 hp and the other boosted to the 205 hp in the higher trim Si models. And, if that is insufficient for your taste – go right to the top and choose the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 306 hp, only to be found in the Honda Civic Type R. Furthermore, the gas mileage is one of the best things about the car: the 2019 Civic gets its best fuel economy and the ride and handling are often described as engaging, dynamic and fun.
The Civic tech is packed with the staples as well as bonus tech for a comfortable pleasurable ride. Though, some say that Honda can do better with its technological features. All of the trims have four-speakers, Bluetooth and a USB port. Depending on the trim car comes with a 5-inch screen or 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with sharp graphics and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Remote engine start, easy smartphone integration, and the Honda Sensing safety tech all add to the overall technologically advanced experience.
Within the trims of the 2019 Honda Civic, you’ll be able to find the necessary features and functions within your budget. The basic trim sedan starts at 19 450 USD and the luxurious high-performance Civic Type R will set you back at least 35 700USD.
The seat materials are superb quality even for the base trims, though the Touring can show off its premium quality leather seats with rear seat heating.
Climate Control System
Automatic climate control is a staple Honda Civic feature. The good news is that climate control functions can be accessed through the infotainment system screen. Though, honestly, you might just need a bit of time to find the climate setting buried too deep in the system.
The infotainment system is one of the most anticipated Civic 2019 upgrades, and, though the overall tech can be better, for the most part, Honda delivered with improved functionality.
Storage and Space
There is a ton of available cargo space for a compact car. There is 15.1 cubic feet cargo space in most of the Civic trims without removing any seats.
The overall level of comfort is outstanding: the cabin is spacious with extremely comfortable seating ideal for a pleasant driving experience.
Front and rear seats are comfortable and contoured to easily support all body shapes. The IIHS gave the Civic’s seating LATCH system the second-highest rating on the ease of use.
Fun, comfortable and exciting ride. Very easy to handle and maneuver in tight spaces: parking lots and traffic jams are a breeze. Effortlessly handles corners and absorbs most of the road bumps with ease.
Civic has a very comfortable ride quality and handles most of the obstacles conveniently. It is a fairly quiet ride, even on the highways.
Safety & Reliability
The NHTSA gave Civic top crash test ratings – 5 out of 5 stars, and the IIHS awarded Civic the highest mark in all crash tests. Though, Honda really dropped the ball with the road illumination – the headlights received the lowest mark.
Should I Buy the Honda Civic?
If you are looking for a reliable, a well-built car that is easy to handle and pleasurable to drive than Civic should be at the top of your list. It is a great sedan, though, if you’re shopping to impress, then this is a miss – it’s a very popular choice, so you won’t be able to stand out on the road.
How Much Does it cost?
19 550 USD – 36 300 USD
